Before becoming one of the most beautiful conservancies, Ol Pejeta was traditionally a cattle ranch in colonial Kenya. It wasn’t until the late twentieth century that this park became innovative conservation. Now it is privately owned and known as one of the most successful conservancies! In addition to the classic self-drive safari, you can do many other safari-related activities here.
SAMBURU WILDLIFE RESERVE
Remote and off the beaten track is beautiful Samburu Wildlife Reserve. When visiting this park you will feel right at home with its tranquil atmosphere. While here, you can peacefully spot the most diverse wildlife and explore the beautiful landscapes. In Samburu National Park you will find large predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah. Additionally, you will spot some rare North Kenyan species such as the Grevy Zebra, the Somali ostrich and the Gerenuk. If you’re a birder, this is the park for you!
MERU NATIONAL PARK
Meru National Park is 348 km away from Nairobi, and due to its relative unfamiliarity, it cannot be compared to the busy Maasai Mara. It has diverse landscapes: from wide-open plains to many rivers and lush forests. Just like in Samburu National Park, you will find the large predators and a lot of bird species here.
