One of the lesser-known destinations in Namibia, but it is incredibly beautiful and simply breathtaking! Spitzkoppe’s 700-meter granite mountains rise far above the flat landscape and are more than 120 million years old.
Several rocks have a flat top, so you can sleep romantically under the starry sky, but together in that sleeping bag because it cools down a lot! Around 5 o’clock you can watch the sunrise as you sip on some instant coffee. I bet this will be one of your best cups of coffee ever.
CLIMBING AND CULTURE
Many mountain climbers can enjoy this Matterhorn from Namibia. You can go on beautiful and challenging hikes here. Whether accompanied by a local guide who can teach you everything about this unique place or you can draw out your own route. You will find a lot of ancient rock paintings and other archaeological findings here. Definitely will come in handy when you summarise your holiday to your folks. As part of sustainable tourism, at Charlie’s Travels the proceeds from these hikes go directly to the community that takes care of and depends on this environment.
Up the mountain you can expect tranquillity like never before, awe at the galaxies and milky way in the distant space, and the nights are spectacular! And yes, you will be visited by the Rock Hyrax also known as “Dassie” in Afrikaans, which you will understand if you spot one! These mega funny and cute critters happily hop around in this area. Funnily enough, this little prankster is the elephant’s closest relative! The little cousin!
WHICH ACCOMMODATION SUITS YOU BEST?

Would you rather be more at one with nature? Then stay in one of the most beautiful campsites in Namibia. It is such a cool experience. You place your mattress on the flat rock at the very edge of the campsite, sleep under thousands of stars and wake up from the rising sun! It is very special!
