TANZANIA

“About 15 years ago I did the Northern Safari route with my parents. Yes, it was a beautiful experience but something was missing! Fast forward a few years and I was living in Kisumu. During this time I learned that Africa had so much more to offer than just safari, lodges, and beach resorts. This was certainly the case in East Africa, where Charlie’s Travels main focus is. There is so much more to discover than what’s on offer with standard tour operators! After Kenya, Tanzania comes in second place if you are looking at real, raw, and diverse Africa!”

ABOUT TANZANIA

It’s no secret that Tanzania is a very popular holiday destination and why shouldn’t it be? It boasts the magnificent Serengeti National Park and is home to the Great Migration as well as the highest mountain in Africa. Not to mention Zanzibar with its pearly white beaches!

Tired of the same old same old? No problem! We’re here to show you Tanzania off the beaten track. Tanzania is so diverse and has so much to offer in terms of atmosphere, nature, and meeting the locals. We’d like to show you authentic Tanzania, where you can travel in a responsible and sustainable way.

Best of all? We’re not just making this stuff up from behind our computers – we’ve traveled to Tanzania and experienced all our routes firsthand. Watch our Africa Inside Out project below to see more.

VIEW OUR NEW OWN ROUTES

Northern Tanzania is popular with many travellers and we can’t blame them! Why wouldn’t you want to see Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti and Lake Manyara? These national parks are gorgeous! However, we think there has to be more. So what does any explorer do? Go and find something new of course. So we investigated.

UNIQUE EXPERIENCES

ENDUIMET CONSERVANCY

In the northernmost tip of Tanzania, in the heart of Maasai country, you will find a beautiful piece of untouched nature. Hardly any tourists, an abundance of wildlife and three very impressive mountains all around. Explore the area by car, go mountain biking or jump on the back of a piki piki!

HOLY MAASAI MOUNTAIN LONGIDO

At 2637 metres, this mountain is the underdog, the poor relation of Tanzanian mountains. In terms of altimetry, it is indeed not the most impressive mountain compared to Mount Meru or Kilimanjaro, but when it comes to off-the-beaten-track mountaineering, Longido has a lot going for it. Want to spend two days hiking on a mountain that seems to be all yours? This is the place to be!
