Relaxed travel

“Sometimes it is important to go into chill mode. Relax in a totally different world than the rushed West. When travelling in Africa, it is good to take the time to absorb things, give your brain some rest with a digital detox. Africa is full of beautiful places where you can endlessly contemplate, reflect on life, relax, refresh and reboot so that you can get back to it! ”

Relaxed travel through Africa: what is possible?

Beach vibes

Anyone who thinks Africa only consists of savanna and red earth is very wrong. Do you like to sit in the warm sand under the swaying palm trees while enjoying a cocktail from a coconut? Then you are in for an incredible time in Africa!. Many African countries have pearly white beaches on the Indian Ocean. Just think of the tropical palm-dotted coast of Kenya, the exotic islands of Tanzania, the postcard-like beaches of South Africa and the colourful underwater life on the coast of Madagascar and Mozambique.

Glamping in the wild

Camping doesn’t exactly sound relaxing: having to move around, trying to find a comfortable position in which to finally relax, doesn’t sound fun. For those who want to relax in luxury and camp outdoors with the wild animals in the bush, there is glamping. A wonderfully soft bed, plenty of space to do yoga in your tent and sometimes even sockets for your phone or hairdryer and a bathtub with warm water. And all with an amazing view from your veranda – where you can sip a glass of wine – after which you fall asleep to the chirping of the crickets, while the hippos bump around near the tent.

The lakes of Uganda

Uganda is landlocked and has no coastline, but has gigantic magical lakes where you can relax and take in the view. From a villa on an island in Lake Victoria to a luxury lodge overlooking Lake Mutanda with the Congolese volcanoes reflecting in the water’s surface. You can also visit one of the 29 islands of Lake Bonyonyi and relax with a book after a day of bobbing in a hollowed-out tree trunk. You may also opt to sip icy drinks on wooden decks at Fort Portal’s jungle-surrounded crater lakes!

Island hopping

What better way to relax than on a boat, the rippling water, bobbing waves, wind in the sails and splashing in the warm, clear seawater. By boat, you can visit some of the most beautiful, uninhabited islands and white sandbanks where fresh tuna and octopus are grilled for you on the beach barbecue. Cruise around Mozambique on a catamaran or sail on a traditional Arabian dhow (sailboat) between the islands of the East African coast.

Special accommodations

We know that you can find upscale and luxurious accommodation in Africa, but there are many other options where you can completely relax. Just think of private villas on the beach, banda huts with infinity pools or super-deluxe tree houses with 360-degree views. Maybe you prefer to stay on a raft in the middle of the sea where the fish swim by your window?
