If there is one continent that is subject to stereotypes and clichés, it is Africa. Until recently, mainly sensational & disastrous reports reached living rooms all over the
globe. Often with reason, of course, these messages dictate only one side of generally complex stories and are always negative.
This continent is bursting with positive stories and diversity so broad you cannot comprehend it from the comfort of your couch at home. This one-sided story and dark image need to change, and tourism is the perfect tool to help this cause. An industry stuck in clichés, in which travellers are being pushed into the same classic directions.
We are looking for a young, dynamic person with excellent knowledge of the travel industry in Southern Africa who will be responsible for booking a trip from start to finish through securing accommodation, transport, and booking flights. You will report directly to the Operations Manager, who is responsible for various sold trips and ensuring that each trip runs smoothly. The role will not be limited to booking transport and accommodation; you will be responsible for communicating with suppliers to guarantee better rates and contacting the clients to help answer questions before and while they are travelling.
Charlie’s Travels Southern Africa operates from Durban North. You will be working in a small team from here. Your duties and responsibilities, among others, entail the following:
